Final Cut Window Burn Steps:
  1. First make sure that all the video files you wish to export are self-contained in one sequence of Final Cut Pro.
  2. Select all the video files within the sequence. By either dragging through the time line or using the keyboard short cut command -a
  3. Once the files are selected navigate to the top menu labeled sequence and select nest items. Or use the keyboard short cut option -c
  4. A Dialog box will appear asking you to name the nested sequence. Pick a name that corresponds to your project and also select the aspect ratio of the nested sequence. Final cut sets Keeps Effects, Markers.... By default.
  5. A new sequence will appear in the timeline. This is your nested sequence.
  6. To add a window burn, navigate to the effects menu. Click the drop down list in video filters and then video. You will see a filter called "Timecode Generator."* Drag this onto your sequence.
  7. Ctrl-click on the nest after dropping the "Timecode Generator" filter on it. Choose "load in viewer." Use the choices under the filters tab in the viewer to adjust settings.
  8. The timecode plug-in will allow you to change the frame rate, font size, position and specify an hour offset.
  9. Choose the correct frame rate for you project. And adjust the position of the window burn by using the plus button located by the center text.
  10. Export the file and you are done.
